What is The Lodges at West Edge?

It’s a top-quality Durham community designed especially with UNH students in mind. The Lodges at West Edge features a variety of spacious, furnished residences plus a full set of community features such as a community clubhouse, hot tub and sauna, business center and more.

Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?

You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.

What are per-person contracts?

Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at The Lodges has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom.

What is included in the rate?

Each resident at The Lodges at West Edge pays a flat rate that includes:

  • Furnishings
  • In-unit laundry
  • High-speed internet
  • Water/sewer
  • Trash disposal
  • Community features – business center, game room, etc.

What size are the residences?

The spacious accommodations at The Lodges at West Edge are available in 2 and 4 bedroom floorplans, including two-story cottage and townhome options, with a private bedroom-bathroom suite for each resident.

Are the residences furnished?

Yes, each apartment at The Lodges at West Edge has a furniture package that includes a full-size bed, desk and chair and dresser drawers in each bedroom. The living area includes a sofa, chair, coffee table, end table, entertainment stand and barstools.

When do the contracts start and end?

The standard term is August 22, 2022 to July 31, 2023, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Limited alternate dates are available; please inquire with our staff. Click here for a sample agreement.

Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?

After a Housing Agreement is signed, each resident is required to secure their financial obligation in one of three ways: by providing a qualifying guarantor (often a parent); by pre-paying the final two installments; or by purchasing a third-party guaranty from our partner, Leap. In limited cases, we may also waive the requirement for a financial guaranty if a resident has sufficient income of their own.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. The Lodges at West Edge also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.

Will my financial aid cover charges at The Lodges?

Your living costs at The Lodges can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at The Lodges. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.

Is The Lodges at West Edge open to non-students?

Nearly all the residents at The Lodges are students at UNH. The per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Nonetheless, The Lodges is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from non-students. Family members are welcome as well, subject to occupancy limits. Because of the need to match student roommates, non-students must apply together with enough roommates to fill the desired residence.

What kind of safety and security are provided?

The Lodges at West Edge has a monitored fire-sprinkler system, along with individually locking bedroom doors. Community courtesy patrols are provided at select times. Management staff are also available 24×7 and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.

What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?

The Lodges at West Edge is a pet-friendly community, subject to limits on animals and breeds. The community is smoke-free in all indoor and adjacent spaces. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of apartment-mates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.

Can I park my vehicle at The Lodges?

The Lodges at West Edge offers free on-site parking for residents and guests.

What other transportation options will I have?

The university shuttle, West Edge Express, picks up residents in front of the community and has multiple stops on campus and downtown. The shuttle bus service runs every 12 minutes on weekdays from 7am to 7pm, and every 20 minutes from 10am to 10pm on weekends.
