What is The Lodges at West Edge?

It’s a top-quality Durham community designed especially with UNH students in mind. The Lodges at West Edge features a variety of spacious, furnished residences plus a full set of community features such as a community clubhouse, hot tub and sauna, business center and more.

Is The Lodges at West Edge part of the University of New Hampshire?

Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?

You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.

What are per-person contracts?

Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at The Lodges has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom.

What is included in the rate?

Each resident at The Lodges at West Edge pays a flat rate that includes:

  • Furnishings
  • In-unit laundry
  • High-speed internet
  • Valet trash (fee required)
  • Community features – business center, game room, etc.

What size are the residences?

The spacious accommodations at The Lodges at West Edge are available in 2 and 4 bedroom floorplans, including two-story cottage and townhome options, with a private bedroom-bathroom suite for each resident.

Are the residences furnished?

Yes, each apartment at The Lodges at West Edge has a furniture package that includes a queen-size bed, desk and chair and dresser drawers in each bedroom. The living area includes a sofa, chair, coffee table, end table, entertainment stand and barstools.

When do the contracts start and end?

The standard term is August 22, 2024 to July 24, 2025, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Limited alternate dates are available; please inquire with our staff. Click here for a sample agreement.

Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?

Within 7 days after a Housing Agreement is signed, each resident is required to provide a qualifying guarantor (often a parent).  However, a resident may choose to prepay the final 2 installments and request a waiver of this guarantor requirement.  In limited cases, we may also waive the guarantor requirement if a resident has sufficient income of their own.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. The Lodges at West Edge also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.

Will my financial aid cover charges at The Lodges?

Your living costs at The Lodges can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at The Lodges. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.

Is The Lodges at West Edge open to non-students?

Nearly all the residents at The Lodges at West Edge are students at UNH and the per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Residents/families with children are welcome. There is no extra cost for minor children in the care of adult residents, other than regular charges for each bedroom space selected by the resident. A minor occupying a bedroom space rented by a parent, guardian or person with legal custody is not considered a breach of the Housing Agreement or a violation of the rules. The Lodges is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from non-students. In order to match student roommates in shared apartments, we will request roommate consent for any non-student occupants.

What kind of safety and security are provided?

The Lodges at West Edge has a monitored fire-sprinkler system, along with individually locking bedroom doors. Community courtesy patrols are provided at select times. Management staff are also available 24×7 and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.

What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?

The Lodges at West Edge is a pet-friendly community, subject to limits on animals and breeds. The community is smoke-free in all indoor and adjacent spaces. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of apartment-mates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.

Can I park my vehicle at The Lodges?

The Lodges at West Edge offers free on-site parking for residents.

Can I see a model apartment?

Although we do not currently have a model apartment, we offer a virtual tour that can be viewed here. You can also request an appointment for a personal tour, or just stop by to see us and we’ll be happy to show you the community.
